Safer Gambling

Bet442 endeavours to ensure that all our customers gain maximum enjoyment from their gambling and, for most people, gambling is an enjoyable leisure pursuit. For a very small number however, there can be problems, and gambling can cease to be fun.

We actively promote Safer Gambling to encourage all of our customers to engage in positive play as well as to support those who may experience harms related to gambling to get the help they might need.

To help manage any gambling activities, we have consulted with our regulators and gambling charities, to offer a range of advice and account options that gives you complete control of both the time and money you spend gambling.

Awareness and Limits

Awareness and Limits

At Bet442, we encourage you to use the safer gambling tools available to help manage the time and money you spend gambling in a way that is appropriate for you.

We provide a range of safer gambling tools and features which you can access through the Safer Gambling section of your account. These include:

Gross Deposit Limits

A Gross Deposit Limit allows you to set a maximum amount of cash that you can deposit during a specified period.

Unlike a net deposit limit, withdrawals do not reduce the amount counted towards your Gross Deposit Limit.

For example, if you set a £1,000 Gross Deposit Limit and deposit £900 during the relevant period, you will have £100 of your limit remaining.

If you then withdraw £500, you will still have £100 remaining. The withdrawal does not increase the amount you are able to deposit.

Gross Deposit Limits operate on fixed calendar periods:

  • Daily limits reset at 00:00 UTC each day;
  • Weekly limits reset at 00:00 UTC each Monday; and
  • Monthly limits reset at 00:00 UTC on the first day of each month.

For example, if you set a £500 Weekly Gross Deposit Limit on a Thursday and deposit £400 before the end of Sunday, you will have £100 remaining until the limit resets at 00:00 UTC on Monday.

If more than one Gross Deposit Limit applies to your account at the same time, the most restrictive limit will apply.

If you reduce a Gross Deposit Limit, the more restrictive limit will take effect immediately after we register it.

If you request to increase or remove a Gross Deposit Limit you have set yourself, a cooling-off period of at least 24 hours will apply. Once that period has ended, you will need to positively confirm that you still want the change before it can take effect.

Loss Limits

A Loss Limit allows you to restrict the amount you can lose from cash gambling during a rolling period.

The available periods are:

  • Daily – a rolling period of 24 hours;
  • Weekly – a rolling period of 7 days; and
  • Monthly – a rolling period of 30 days.

Unlike a Gross Deposit Limit, which looks at how much you deposit, a Loss Limit looks at your gambling activity during the relevant period.

Your loss position is calculated as:

Cash stakes placed during the relevant period;

minus cash winnings or returns paid during the relevant period;

minus winnings from Free Bets which are paid as cash; and

minus winnings from Free Spins which are paid as cash.

For this calculation, sports betting cash-outs and returns from void sports bets are treated as cash winnings or returns. Bonus funds themselves are not included.

When you set a Loss Limit, relevant gambling activity which has already taken place within the applicable rolling period will be included in your loss position.

For example, if you set a £500 Daily Loss Limit at 10:00 and you have already lost £350 from cash gambling during the preceding 24 hours, you will have £150 remaining before reaching your Loss Limit.

Loss Limits also take winnings into account.

For example, suppose you have a £500 Loss Limit and, during the relevant period, you have placed £700 in cash stakes and received £1,000 in cash winnings or returns.

Your position would be:

£700 cash stakes
minus £1,000 cash winnings or returns
= -£300 loss position

This means you are £300 in a winning position during the relevant period.

Because the £500 Loss Limit applies to your overall net cash loss during that period, you could lose a further £800 before reaching the £500 Loss Limit, assuming no other relevant activity enters or leaves the calculation in the meantime.

This is an intended feature of Loss Limits. They restrict your overall net cash loss during the relevant rolling period rather than simply limiting the amount you can stake or lose from individual bets or gambling sessions.

Because Loss Limits operate on a rolling basis, your position can change as older stakes, winnings and returns fall outside the applicable 24-hour, 7-day or 30-day period.

If you reduce a Loss Limit, the more restrictive limit will take effect immediately after we register it.

If you request to increase or remove a Loss Limit you have set yourself, a cooling-off period of at least 24 hours will apply. Once that period has ended, you will need to positively confirm that you still want the change before it can take effect.

In some circumstances, we may also apply a Loss Limit to your account for safer gambling, regulatory or compliance purposes. Where we do so, we will explain why the limit has been applied. Operator-set Loss Limits may operate differently when first applied, as explained in our Terms and Conditions.

Reality Checks

Reality Checks allow you to receive on-screen reminders at set intervals showing how long you have been logged into the site.

You can use these reminders to keep track of the amount of time you are spending gambling.

Take A Break / Cool Off

If you want to take a temporary break from gambling, you can apply a temporary block to your account for a period from 24 hours up to 30 days.

During the selected period you will be unable to use your account to gamble.

If you feel that you require a longer break from gambling, you should consider using Self-Exclusion instead.

Self-Exclusion

Self-Exclusion is intended for customers who wish to prevent themselves from gambling for a longer period.

You can request an internal self-exclusion with us for:

  • 6 months;
  • 1 year;
  • 2 years;
  • 3 years;
  • 4 years; or
  • 5 years.

You can also register with GAMSTOP, the national online self-exclusion scheme, which prevents you from accessing gambling websites operated by participating businesses in Great Britain.

Self-exclusion cannot be cancelled once it has taken effect.

Further information about self-exclusion, including what happens when an exclusion ends, is available in our Terms and Conditions.

Account and Transaction History Reviews

We will periodically prompt you to review information about your account and transaction history.

We are required to provide this prompt at least once every six months, but you can choose to receive these reviews more frequently by selecting 1, 3 or 6-monthly reminders.

Regularly reviewing your gambling activity can help you understand how much time and money you are spending.

Self-Assessment

Having a clear understanding of your gambling behaviour can help you make informed decisions about whether gambling remains appropriate for you.

For some people, gambling can have a harmful impact and may contribute to personal, social, financial or health problems.

If you are unsure about the impact gambling may be having on you, GamCare provides an online self-assessment designed to help you reflect on your gambling behaviour.

The assessment asks a series of questions about your gambling and provides feedback and information based on your responses.

To take the self-assessment, please click here.

The assessment is provided independently by GamCare. Your answers and results are not reported back to Bet442.

If you are concerned about your gambling, we encourage you to use the safer gambling tools available on your account and to seek support where appropriate.

Frame of Mind

Gambling is a form of entertainment and should always be something that you choose to do. As such, we encourage you to gamble in a mindset that allows you to fully enjoy your time. We would recommend not gambling while:

  • Excessively drinking
  • Under the influence of recreational drugs
  • Taking medication that can:
    • Make you forgetful
    • Make you drowsy
    • Make you prone to mood swings
    • Alter your thought process or decision making
  • Experiencing high levels of stress in your day to day life:
    • Relationship breakups
    • Loss of a close relative/friend
    • Loss of a job/education/career
    • Life-altering events

Gambling while in an altered mindset can impair your judgement and decision-making abilities, giving you less self-control and increasing the risk of you experiencing gambling-related harm.

If you feel you might be vulnerable to the risks of gambling-related harm, we recommend you speak with a professional such as your GP, for instance.

Protection of Minors

It is against the law for any person under the age of 18 to gamble in the UK. We take measures to prevent minors from playing on our sites. Below are some additional measures you can take to protect anybody in your care on your devices:

  • Net Nanny
    • Monitor and keep everyone protected from any harmful content. Visit Net Nanny.
  • SentryPC
    • Cloud-based computer monitoring, content filtering, and time management software wrapped into one. Visit SentryPC.
  • Cybersitter

Alongside these tools, we also advise:

You do not allow minors unsupervised access to your device while logged into your Bet442 account.

Do not allow any persons under 18 years of age in your care to partake in any gambling-related activity. keep your username, password and financial information secure and protected.

If you are aware of (or suspect) any person under the age of 18 has access to an Bet442 account, please inform our Customer Service team by sending an email to [email protected] or a message via Live Chat.
